When I received a food tasting invitation from the FoodNews, I was quite clueless about this restaurant coz I don't stay around Katong area. I was really impressed with the food they served that day. The best part? I was able to try so many cuisines without having to travel around the world :)
Brief Introduction about Charly T's:
Located at family-friendly I12 Katong mall, Charly T's is known for its famous "Best in the City" rotisserie chicken in an urban, fast-casual setting in the heartlands. With a main indoor area, Charly's Porch (an al fresco lounge area) and a private dining room, patrons can relax and enjoy international cuisine that is inspired by Charly's travels and unique recipes. Famous for their ‘home-style cuisine’ served at wallet-friendly prices, the home-grown brand offers delicious comfort food from around the world, prepared with the freshest local ingredients.
Guess What? Hb & myself even had a peaceful 1-2 hours meal which was very rare for us. Thanks to Charly T's once a month craft activities provided for diners' children. We were able to have our meal in peace while the children were busy at the Kids Corner.
Kalua Pork ($20+)
If you are a pork lover like me, I'm quite sure you will love this dish. Kalua pork is originated from Hawaii and don't be deceived by the large chunks of pork on the skewer, the meat is really soft and tender.
Original Rotisserie Chicken - Half chicken with 2 sides ($24+)
Their rotisserie chicken is their best seller and the originated from Hamburg. It comes in 4 flavours - Original Recipe, Kampong Chicken, Kansas City BBQ and Black Pepper. I was told that their chickens were marinated for more than 13 hours before being roasted. All the flavour are sealed into the meat and the meat is really tender.
Sloppy Joe ($10.50+)
This burger from America is not bad too, they use minced beef to make the beef patties. The meat is not stiff and the taste is flavourful with all the ingredients.
Butter Garlic Rice + German Potato Salad
Steamed Fresh Vegetables + Macaroni Cheese (uses a recipe from award-winning Chef Rozanne Gold's "Eat Fresh Food" cookbook which contains less cheese and includes fresh cauliflower)

Yakitori Chicken (served with BBQ Sauce)

What more can a child ask for when there's cake & ice-cream in front of him?
Charly T's also offers activities for kids once a month (3rd Sunday of the month) and engage them in art activities (complimentary for kids accompanied by dining adults). Parents can sit back and enjoy their food while the kids will be having fun at a corner of the restaurant. However, the class is limited to 20 children and seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

All the materials were set up nicely before the lesson started.
Since Chinese New Year is approaching, the teacher taught the kids how to make Ang Pow Fish Lantern in a step-by-step process.
Kids were happy to bring home their finished products and goody bags given by the restaurant.
Good news for students! Charly T's is having on-going Student Promotion from Mondays to Fridays (2pm-5pm). Students just need to flash their student cards to enjoy signature waffle and 2 soft drinks or homemade iced teas for just $8+. Free wi-fi too!
