An egg-cellent 10th birthday celebration!

This year YQ's birthday falls on the same day as Father's Day so we had a double celebration. We had a quick and small celebration at the in-law's place and brought her to a themed cafe for dinner. Recently, they are crazy about Gudetama so I decided to surprise them secretly by making a reservation at the Gudetama Cafe.

Grandma will make 2 red eggs + 1 red packet without fail.

After the first disaster order from a home baker 6 years ago for Junior YS's 1st-year birthday party, I have totally avoided ordering from home baker ever since. Until recently, I saw some fave reviews online and decided to take the risk and ordered from this home baker. Oh boy, we fell in love with her creativity and also her yummy steamed cakes. The moment I opened the cake box, all the kids were going crazy with the cute cake designs. I am going to order more from her this year for sure :)

A rare occasion to gather with all the cousins for a celebration!

Sil bought a small chocolate cake to celebrate Father's Day too!

I made a reservation a few days before YQ's birthday and I kept it a secret from everyone else (except the hub). I knew the secret will somehow leak out if I tell any of her siblings. You can imagine the surprised expressions from them when we reached the destination.

Look how cute those cakes were...

We ordered the family platter to share, the food was not very fantastic but maybe we should try to order other main courses next time. I heard that their breakfast set is worth trying though.

We topped up $10 to include these 2 drinks.

My favourite was their dessert range. No doubt its quite sweet but nice.

We ordered their waffles for dessert too.

When you have nothing to do while waiting for food, go and take more pictures.

Their seatings also come in egg shell shape.

The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum | Chinese Garden | Japanese Garden

The kids made their maiden trip to the Chinese and Japanese Gardens last weekend after their BASF workshop held at Jurong Regional Library. After lunch, I told them that I was bringing them to a secret place. They were disappointed at first when they knew I was not going to bring them to the Science Centre and complained how bored they will be. My intention was to bring them to somewhere they have never explore before since we hardly come to the west part of Singapore. Guess what? we spent a good 4 hours exploring the whole area and they told me it was actually very fun to come here.

The last time I came here was during Secondary School days. I remembered there was performance and payment for the entrance ticket was required to enter the premise. Now everything is open for free to public, just make sure you bring enough water, snacks and umbrellas (in case of raining) if you intend to roam around for a while.

We brought along 3 umbrellas because the weather was scorching hot and it rained for a while too.

The live turtle and tortoise museum is located within the Chinese Garden so it's advisable to park at the carpark near the Chinese Garden entrance.

Pictures and newspaper cuttings regarding the history of the museum.

Ticketing counter

Vegetables can be bought from the ticketing booth, it cost $2 for a bunch of vegetables. The children were so facinated with feeding those hungry tortoises and we bought 3 bunches in the end.

Remember to wash your hands after feeding.

We were told that there are about more than 40 different species in the museum and here are some of our favourites.

It can be quite imiditating to feed large tortoise and its mouth can open quite big.

The children find this pig-nose turtle very cute!

There is a bunch of tortoises that roam freely for you to feed them.

Officially in the 40s club

I have officially join the 40s club (yah! cannot act cute anymore!). All I can say is my heart is feeling full from all the messages received from friends and relatives. We did nothing special in particular this year, just spent precious family time with my loved ones.

The children wish we can go overseas now (just like last year) to celebrate my birthday, actually they just want to find an excuse to go abroad *laughed*. Anyway, its quite impossible to do that because the eldest is going through PSLE this year and June holiday is not a "holiday" for him. It is a busy month for him to go through an intensive revision to prepare for his upcoming examination *stress*.

Mom will prepare two red eggs and an ang bao for me without fail every year.

Going on a lunch date with the hub together with our "light bulb".

The lunch set at Tamashii Robataya was quite affordable and the portion was just nice to my liking. Hub ordered the grilled beef lunch set and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy. I ordered the grilled eel set meal and the son ordered grilled chicken set meal.

The children were planning secretly to get me a birthday cake (oh well, I knew the secret beforehand actually). Since hub secretly ordered a cake from Cake Spade, I decided to tell them not to buy another cake for me. YQ was very persistent and insisted to buy at least 1 cupcake for me :)

Our dinner plan was settled at the While Restaurant at Punggol Settlement.

We ended the night indulging our white chocolate cheese cake from Cake Spade.
